Saraviahanon farmers receive free knapsack sprayers to boost production

            Seventy (70) Saraviahanon farmers are expected to boost agricultural productivity with the free new knapsack sprayers being distributed by the Municipality of EB Magalona under the project of the Department of Agriculture (DA). Mayor Marvin M. Malacon led the turn-over of the initial 25 units of knapsack sprayers to the farmers of Brgy. Alacaygan while 45 units are still to be distributed to the farmers of Brgy. Consing, Brgy. San Isidro and Brgy. Canlusong.

More than 600 Saraviahanon farmers now covered by crop, livestock and accident insurance

More than 600 farmers of EB Magalona are now covered by crop, livestock and accident insurance as part of the project of the Department of Agriculture (DA) being implemented in partnership with the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist. The aim of the initiative is to support agricultural productivity and economic sustainability for the farmers by providing them safety net to protect them from possible losses arising from natural calamities, plant diseases, pest infestations, among others.

More than 1,000 Saraviahanon families received permanent housing units located in TUMANDOK Village, Brgy. Sto. Niño, EB Magalona in a turn over ceremony held on Monday, February 25, 2019. The activity was led by Negros Occidental 3rd District Cong. Albee Benitez, Chairperson of the House Committee on Housing and Urban Development, municipal officials headed by Mayor Marvin M. Malacon and National Housing Authority (NHA) representatives.

EB Magalona joins nationwide earthquake drill to boost disaster preparedness

With the aim to increase public knowledge and awareness on disaster preparedness and response, the Municipality of EB Magalona participated in the nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill spearheaded by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on February 21, 2019. Hundreds of municipal employees, headed by Mayor Marvin Malacon, the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), national government employees, Department of Education (DepEd) family and students, barangay officials and residents took part in the said activity.

            Around 250 children, adults and senior citizens benefited from the free medical consultation services and free medicines during the Medical Mission activity organized by Sta. Mayor Marvin M. Malacon expects that residents, especially the students and the young ones, of EB Magalona will greatly benefit from the free internet WI-FI that will be soon available in the public plaza, the Municipal Hall grounds and the surrounding areas. This is being articulated by Mayor Malacon as the Municipal Government is currently working with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in implementing the “Pipol Konek – Free Wi-Fi Internet Access in Public Places Project” to achieve internet connectivity for all.

EB Magalona Mayor Marvin M. Malacon lauded President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Negros Occidental 3rd District Cong. Albee Benitez for the enactment into law of Republic Act 11201 or the “Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Act”. He expressed gratitude to both for the law will address the many gaps and problems in the public housing and urban development, ultimately improving the quality of life of Filipinos.

The P50 million worth of heavy equipment purchased by the municipal government of EB Magalona is now ready for use, Mayor Marvin Malacon said yesterday.

The heavy equipment, that arrived last week, consist of a bulldozer, grader, backhoe loader and excavator, and two dump trucks, a rescue vehicle and a motorcycle.

The rescue vehicle and the motorcycle are intended for use by the Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction Management office.
