EB MAGALONA - The new year 2019 is just business as usual in Saravia after the busy calendar of activities in 2018, the successful staging of the town’s “Lights On” ceremony and the Ugyonan Seafood Festival that is on its 3rd year.

EB Magalona to begin P200M projects soon

The three projects of EB Magalona, Negros Occidental, that will cost P200 million are starting soon, Mayor Marvin Malacon said Saturday.

The bidding for the P50 million heavy equipment will commence on December 16, followed by the bidding for the renovation and construction of the town market amounting to P140 million, and the P10 million computerization project at the municipal hall, early next year, Malacon said.

The P200 million will be a loan the town has secured from the Land Bank of the Philippines.

875 qualify as ‘Metro 3rd Skolars’

A TOTAL OF 875 college students from the Third District of Negros Occidental have passed the requirements to qualify as recipients of the Commission on Higher Education’s (Ched) Tulong Dunong program for the first semester of the school year 2018-2019.

Lagrimas Silvestre, head of the programs and services group of the District Office of Congressman Alfredo Benitez, said these recipients, known as Metro 3rd Skolars, are enrolled in various courses in public and private colleges and universities in the province.

280 join Tumandok MTB fun ride

The 25-kilometer 1st Tumandok MTB Fun Ride 2018 in the sugarcane areas and barangays of EB Magalona in Negros Occidental, was very successful, with 280 bike riders from Negros Occidental and Oriental joining the activity, Mayor Marvin Malacon said yesterday.

EB Magalona seeking P200M loan for market rehab, heavy equipment

EB Magalona town in Negros Occidental is securing a loan of P200 million from the Land Bank of the Philippines to fund the renovation of its town market, purchase of brand new heavy equipment and for its information and communication technology project.

EB Magalona Mayor Marvin Malacon yesterday said that of the amount, P140 million will be used in the construction and renovation of the 50-year-old town market, and the P60 million for buying heavy equipment such as a buldozzer, grader, back hoe, back hoe loader, a 10-wheeler truck and two mini-dump trucks.

Bacolod City – The town of E. B. Magalona, known as the “blue crabs capital” of Negros Occidental, is stepping up its seafood production.

Magalona Mayor Marvin Malacon said in a press conference Tuesday demand for seafood products had been increasing and steps were being made to ensure sustainability of supply.
