Biz sector lauds dev't plan of E.B. Magalona

THE local business sector has lauded the direction set by the Municipal Government of E.B. Magalona in its bid to boost growth in the northern Negros Occidental locality.

The local government unit (LGU) recently called for a meeting with representatives of various business groups in the province to present its potentials for large scale investments. 

The meeting held at 21 Bar and Restaurant in Bacolod City on Wednesday, June 5 was also attended by incoming governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and congressman-elect of Third District Francisco Benetiz.

In its bid to be economically competitive, the municipal government of EB Magalona has tapped the help of the business sector in Negros Occidental to improve its economic climate.

The local government, led by Mayor Marvin Malacon, initiated a consultation meeting with the leaders of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday at 21 Restaurant in Bacolod City. It was also attended by Vice Governor and governor-elect Eugenio Lacson and representative-elect Francisco Benitez of the third district.

Public-Private Partnership tapped to accelerate local development in EB Magalona

EB Magalona Mayor Marvin M. Malacon revealed that his administration will be partnering with the private sector to implement various initiatives that will benefit residents and help boost the local economy of the Municipality. This, in turn, is expected to bring more employment opportunities to the residents and increase local taxes, which the local government unit (LGU) can use to expand the delivery of basic social services.

Port may operate in EB Magalona by 2020

The P100 million roll-on-roll-off and cargo port in Brgy. Manta-angan, EB Magalona, Negros Occidental, is targeted to be operational by January next year, reelected Mayor Marvin Malacon said yesterday.

Port developer, FF Cruz Co. Inc., is presently constructing the port that will connect with the Bay-ang port in Ajuy town, Iloilo, to Brgy. Manta-angan, EB Magalona, and make travel time shorter for cargos bound for northern Negros.

            Several associations and cooperatives consisting of thousands of farmers and farm workers in EB Magalona received free equipment and infrastructure support to improve their farming practice and boost agricultural productivity implemented by the Municipal Government of EB Magalona and the Department of Agriculture (DA).

EB Magalona barangays recognized for outstanding sanitation practices

Three barangays of EB Magalona were recognized by the Department of Health (DOH) for achieving Zero Open Defecation (ZOD) status. Awarded with the prize amounting to PHP20,000 each were Brgy. Poblacion 1 headed by Punong Barangay Jovy Escala, Brgy. Poblacion 2 headed by Punong Barangay Rolando Banasig and Brgy. Poblacion 3 headed by Punong Barangay Gerald Lopez. The said barangays passed the criteria for ZOD-certification after undergoing assessment and validation of the team from the DOH.

EB Magalona inter-barangay sports league to open on March 16, 2019

            EB Magalona Mayor Marvin M. Malacon announced that the schedule of the opening of the 3rd Mayor Marvin Malacon Basketball and Volleyball League will be on March 16, 2019. There will be a parade at 1:00pm starting from the assembly area in Caltex Highway to EB Magalona Public Plaza. An opening ceremony will then follow on the said venue.

EB Magalona solid waste info campaign program commended

            The solid waste management information and education campaign of the Municipality of EB Magalona was commended during the first quarter meeting of the Negros Occidental Provincial Solid Waste Management Board (PSWMB) held on February 22, 2019  and participated in by the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Provincial Office, DENR-Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) and representatives from the different local government units (LGUs) of the province.

With the theme “Ligtas na Pilipinas Ating Kamtin, Bawat Pamilya ay Sanayin, Kalaaman sa Sunog ay Palawakin”, the said campaign aims to increase consciousness on fire safety at home and motivate the public to take fire safety as everyone’s concern.
