LTO office construction in EB Magalona to start

The construction of the Land Transportation Office extension office in EB Magalona, Negros Occidental, is slated to start early next year, Mayor Marvin Malacon said yesterday.

This was after the LTO, led by its regional director in Western Visayas, Roland Ramos, and EB Magalona officials led by Malacon yesterday signed the deed of donation for the 2,000-square meter lot in Brgy. Tabigue, EB Magalona, that will be used as the site of the LTO extension office.

E.B. Magalona posts 80% compliance on road clearing

E.B. MAGALONA Mayor Marvin Malacon said that the town has 80 percent compliance on road clearing.

Malacon clarified the report announced by the Department of Interior and Local Government giving the municipality a low compliance rating was based on a report two weeks ago.

Recognizing the need to comply not just because it is an order from the President but we need to find permanent solution for our informal settlers and those that are at disaster prone areas,” the mayor said.

IN EB MAGALONA, Mangrove eco-trail becoming famous

The kilometer-long mangrove eco-trail in Brgy. Tomongtong, EB Magalona, Negros Occidental, is becoming famous because of the social media and endorsement of celebrities, among others.

Neophyte movie action star Javi Benitez, who marked his 25th birthday yesterday, and actress Sue Ramirez, led hundreds of youth volunteers and environmental advocates, who planted mangrove propagules at the vicinity of the 10-hectare eco-trail.

EB Magalona Mayor Marvin Malacon said yesterday that the mangrove eco-trail project, that was started in June this year, is full of visitors, especially during the weekend, who came not only to taste the blue crabs and other seafoods, but to learn how the mangrove area is being preserved.

E.B. Magalona Mayor Marvin M. Malacon and Vice Mayor Eric D. Matulac thanked 3rd District Representative Dr. Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez for the two significant bill filed at the House of Representatives.

Congressman Benitez earlier filed two House Bill namely; HB 3890, an act seeking for the establishment of a multi- species marine hatchery in E.B. Magalona and HB 46, an act providing for the construction of a coastal road traversing the cities of Bacolod, Silay, Talisay and Victorias and the Municipality of E. B. Magalona in the Province of Negros Occidental.
