Mayor Marvin M. Malacon expects that residents, especially the students and the young ones, of EB Magalona will greatly benefit from the free internet WI-FI that will be soon available in the public plaza, the Municipal Hall grounds and the surrounding areas. This is being articulated by Mayor Malacon as the Municipal Government is currently working with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in implementing the “Pipol Konek – Free Wi-Fi Internet Access in Public Places Project” to achieve internet connectivity for all.

Initially, it includes the establishment of three (3) access points that can accommodate a total of one hundred fifty (150) devicesand comes with security measures against unlawful and abusive use. Accessible twenty-four (24) hours a day and seven (7) days a week, the project is in line with the mandate of Republic Act No. 10929 or the “Free Internet Access in Public Places Act”. The project aims to promote the use of information and communications technology (ICT) to improve the delivery of vital government services and provide efficient and effective ICT infrastructure and information systems to the public.

This initiative will surely be of great help to many in terms of expanding access to wealth of information and knowledge, especially of our students, facilitate easy communication and collaboration, and widen opportunities for business and employment, among others. And ultimately, this will accelerate the continued development in our locality in line with our ‘TUMANDOK CARES’ Development Agenda,” Mayor Malacon said.
