Mayor Marvin Malacon, in a press conference Saturday said that the bidding for the P50 million heavy equipment is set to commence on Dec. 16, to be followed by the bidding for the renovation and construction of the town market amounting to P140 million, and P10 million computerization project at the municipal hall, early next year.
Malacon said the P200 million will be taken from a loan from Land Bank of the Philippines.
The P200 million loan from Land Bank was initially questioned by Vice Mayor Rob Acaling, who filed charges against Malacon, six members of the Sangguniang Bayan and two department heads.
About two months ago, Malacon said Acaling who met him, through Councilor Reylan Gamboa, told him that he executed an affidavit withdrawing all the complaints against him, as well as to the two department heads and six councilors.
The mayor said they were provided by Acaling of his affidavits of desistance, signifying his intention that he is no longer interested in pursuing the complaints.
Acaling, who is the running mate of Malacon during the May 2016 elections, is no longer seeking a re-election as vice mayor of EB Magalona.
Malacon welcomed the withdrawal of complaints lodged against them by Acaling before the Ombudsman, stressing again that allegations of corruption hurled against them have no proof, as he linked it to politics.
Board Member David Albert Lacson, who is running against Malacon who was his successor as mayor of EB Magalona, said he welcomed the settlement of the complaints, stressing that the filing was the initiative of his brother-in-law, Vice Mayor Acaling.
I have nothing to do with it, David said.* (EYA)
