The P100 million roll-on-roll-off and cargo port in Brgy. Manta-angan, EB Magalona, Negros Occidental, is targeted to be operational by January next year, reelected Mayor Marvin Malacon said yesterday.

Port developer, FF Cruz Co. Inc., is presently constructing the port that will connect with the Bay-ang port in Ajuy town, Iloilo, to Brgy. Manta-angan, EB Magalona, and make travel time shorter for cargos bound for northern Negros.

Malacon said he has received reports that the port is now 80 percent completed.

The private port caters to roll on-roll off vessels and fishing boats.

The establishment of a port in EB Magalona will mean more income for the town, and jobs for residents in the barangays.

Malacon said the municipal government is not spending any amount for the port development, although it will earn taxes as soon as it will be operational.*
