EB Magalona farmers receive free farm equipment, irrigation support

            Several associations and cooperatives consisting of thousands of farmers and farm workers in EB Magalona received free equipment and infrastructure support to improve their farming practice and boost agricultural productivity implemented by the Municipal Government of EB Magalona and the Department of Agriculture (DA).

            The officers and members of the Brgy. Canlusong Proper Small Water Irrigation Association received one-unit hand tractor and one-unit irrigation pump. Meanwhile, Nabalas Kawayanan Farmers Association is the recipient of water spring box construction project with six (6) rolls of black hose and a multi-purpose hall for their meetings and other organizational activities.

            In addition, the Takas Tuburan Organic Farmers Association, Hda. Riverside, San Isidro Farmers and Farm Workers Association, Katilingban Farmers and Workers Association, Hda. Chiquita Credit Cooperative, Sitio Ronel Upland Farmers Association, Canlusong Nabalas Upland Farmers Association, Nabalas Kawayan Coconut Integrated Small Farmers Association, Hda. TCG Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose Cooperative, San Isidro Farm Workers Association, Canlusong Integrated Balangon Association, Hda. Gil Farmers Association and St. Joseph Farmers Working Association also receive various equipment like power tillers, threshers and hand tractors.

Mayor Marvin M. Malacon reiterated the importance of support to the farmers for them to increase their production, thereby improving their economic status. He said that his administration will continue to make among its top priorities the programs and projects to help Saraviahanon farmers and fisherfolks to increase yield and productivity.

Aside from farm implements and infrastructure support, the Mayor Malacon also turned over knapsack sprayers, vegetable seeds, crop insurance and other programs to the farmers organizations.

            Support programs for agriculture and fisheries development are among the priority programs of Mayor Malacon under his administration’s “TUMANDOK CARES” Development Agenda.
