The Migrant Help Desk in EB Magalona, Negros Occidental, is now functioning and ready to serve overseas workers and their families.

This was after Mayor Marvin Malacon signed a memorandum of agreement with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Elvince Sardjono of AWO International, Ellene Sana, executive director of Center for Migrant Advocacy, Riza Joy Moldes, OWWA focal person and Salvacion Barrios, president of the Negros Occidental OFW Federation, Wednesday to establish it.

The establishment of Migrant Help Desk based at the Municipal Hall of EB Magalona was also supported by the town Sangguniang Bayan led by Vice Mayor Eric Matulac and the presidents of various OFW associations in the barangays of the town.

Malacon said the Migrant Help Desk aims to further ensure a higher standard of protection and promotion of overseas workers, who are residents of EB Magalona, and their families, in times of distress.*
