BACOLOD City – The municipality of E.B. Magalona in Negros Occidental will hold its second Ugyonan Seafood Festival from Dec. 9 to 11.

Known for its “blue crabs,” the town was featured in Kara David’s television program Pinas Sarap of the GMA station last month.

Mayor Marvin Malacon said E.B. Magalona’s blue crabs have a “unique taste.” It’s sweeter.

It was only last year that the festival was launched. About 4,000 individuals attended.

Since then, the town attracted more tourists, according to Malacon.

The Sangguniang Bayan approved an ordinance institutionalizing the festival.

Malacaon said the local government allocated P300,000 for the event, which is themed “Magtililipon, Magkinaon, Seafoods Ipabugal Naton.”

The mayor, however, said the price of blue crabs this year has increased.

Aside from blue crabs, the festival also features other sea foods like shrimp, bangus, and oyster, among others./PN
