Seniors aged 80 to 95 to receive P10K incentives

Rep. Lani Mercado-Revilla (Cavite, 2nd District) hopes government will begin funding additional incentives for senior citizens ages 80 to 95 next year following the recent amendment of the Centenarian Law.

She said with the recent approval of the amendments to Republic Act No. 10868 or the Centenarian Act of 2016, hopefully the incentives for senior citizens will be given by 2025.

Mercado-Revilla, who joined the  Ugyonan Festival of E.B. Magalona on  Wednesday, May 1, said  the recent amendments will give senior citizens aged 80, 85, 90 and 95 a P10,000 incentive when they reach these ages by March 15, 2024 onwards. 

The Cavite representative authored the bill in the Lower House and her husband Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. authored the counterpart measure in the Senate.

The amendment was signed by President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. in February this year. 

Mercado-Revilla also announced that bills on the institutionalization of the P10,000 teaching allowance for teachers every year and the Anti “No Permit, No Exam” authored by her husband that has been passed into law. 

Night differentials of 20 percent for government employees, including nurses at government hospitals, were also signed into law, she added.

Meanwhile, Mayor Marvin Malacon issued Executive Order No. 41, declaring Thursday, May 2, a non-working day for the employees of the municipal government of E. B. Magalona and of the national government offices in the town, and the suspension of classes.

This will afford the employees, teachers, and students the opportunity to rest, after taking part in the preparation for the activities of the 35th Ugyonan Festival, he said. 

The Ugyonan Festival in honor of E. B. Magalona’s patron saint, St. Joseph the Worker, was held  April 26 to May 1.*
