Mayor Marvin Malacon surprised 480 pupils, teachers, parents

Mayor Marvin Malacon surprised the 480 pupils, teachers, and several parents and guardians of Doña A. Barrera Memorial School in Barangay Madalag this morning [Nov. 4] when he sent McDonald's Happy Meals for each of them.

The pupils and the teachers were wrapping up their flag-raising ceremony and were greeting one of the teachers celebrating her birthday, when they saw Malacon and his companions jogging on the road beside the school ground.

Malacon came from an early morning visit to the Isla Madalag Eco Haven in preparation for its re-opening tomorrow [Nov. 5]. He was accompanied by Vice Mayor Eric Matulac, Councilor Jovie Madayag, Councilor Isidro Gomed Jr., Municipal Planning and Development Office head Engr. Erwin Poniado, and Consultants Ramie Babac and Jay-ar Sebetero.

The pupils then greeted the mayor and other town officials, and invited them to come in.

In an impromptu speech, Malacon told the pupils and the teachers that he is sending 480 McDonald's meals for all of them.

Malacon came back later in the morning with his treat. He was accompanied by Matulac, Poniado, and Sebetero.

"Salamat gid, Mayor Marvin Malacon. Salamat sa pag-palangga mo sa amon mga kabataan. Kami ang isa sa mga nauna mo nga na-grasyahan this November," school principal Luvisminda Fegarido said.*
