EB Magalona tapping Malacon PPP to spur economy of the town

Mayor Marvin Malacon will tap the private sector for possible private-public partnerships to boost the economy of EB Magalona.

Malacon, in a consultation with the private sector, presented his Tumandok Cares Developmental Agenda.

The mayor said the priority projects of his second term are, the construction of the farm to market roads, tourism highway and the Coastal Road/Tourism Highway; the development of the Malogo River Water and Eco-Tourism and the establishment of Saravia Trade and Processing Industrial Complex envisioned to be the first Agro-Industrial Processing Zone.

Malacon said his town has the skilled manpower and raw materials that can be tapped by investors.

More employment opportunities will mean increase in local taxes, which the local government unit (LGU) can use to expand the delivery of basic social services, he pointed out.

The municipal government will also amend its Comprehensive Land Use Plan and tax ordinance to be more attractive to potential investors, Malacon said.

Newly- elected local officials and department heads of the EB Magalona municipal government joined the presentation of Malacon.

The forum was also attended by Governor-elect Eugenio Jose Lacson, Representative-elect Dr. Francisco Benitez of the 3rd district, Roberto Montelibano and Frank Carbon,

President and Chief Executive Officer of Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI), respectively.

Cruz Shipping Corporation, Gina Bautista-Martin, former administrator of the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA), of ASSHI, Jay Jalandoni of APPCOS, Francis Jalandoni of Associated Planters of Silay- Saravia Inc. (APPSI), former mayor Alfonso Gamboa, President of Saravia Blue Crab Inc., representatives of SIMAG Foundation and local land owners attended the forum.*
