EB Magalona port to open by end of 2017, mayor says

The port in Brgy. Manta-angan, EB Magalona, Negros Occidental, is expected to be operational by the end of this year, Mayor Marvin Malacon said yesterday.
The port developer, FF Cruz Co. Inc., is presently constructing the port that will connect with the Bay-ang port in Ajuy town, Iloilo.
It has a budget of about P100 million.
Based on a study, Malacon said the travel time from Bay-ang in Ajuy, Iloilo, to Brgy. Manta-angan, EB Magalona, will be shorter by 30 minutes, compared to the Dumangas-Bacolod City route.
The private port will cater to roll on-roll off vessels and fishing boats, he added.
The establishment of a port in EB Magalona will mean more income for the
town, and jobs for residents in the barangay.*GPB
