TRADE FAIR FOR OFWs. The Municipality of E. B. Magalona, spearheaded by the Municipal Migrant Workers Help Desk and Municipal OFWs Help Desk, joins the two-day Trade Fair for OFWs of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Regional Satellite Office-6 Bacolod, as part of the weeklong celebration of Migrant Workers’ Day on June 3 to 7, with the theme, “Bagong Bayani, Kaagapay sa Bagong Pilipinas.”

The trade fair, slated June 3 to 4, is being held inside the DMW office at the 2nd floor of Gaisano Grand Mall along Singcang-Araneta Streets in Bacolod City from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Only three local government units (LGUs) have been invited by the DMW to participate in the trade fair. The other two LGUs are Kabankalan City and Valladolid. The trade fair showcases the various unique delicacies and products made by overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

In E. B. Magalona booth, the products are made by members of the E. B. Magalona OFWs Federation.

The Migrant Workers’ Day is being celebrated every June 7 to commemorate the signing of Republic Act No. 8042 or the Migrant Workers Act of 1995. The law recognizes the invaluable contribution of OFWs to the country thus they are being hailed as “modern-day heroes.”*
