E.B. Magalona to host NegOcc Festival of Talents

The Municipality of E. B. Magalona, in partnership with the DepEd E. B. Magalona, is hosting the Division Festival of Talents (Sining ng Tanghalan) of the Division of Negros Occidental on June 9-10.

Mayor Marvin Malacon and Schools Division Superintendent Anthony Liobet will deliver their respective inspirational messages at the opening program on June 9 at 8:00 a.m. at the Public Plaza.

Prior to the opening ceremonies, the participants, along with teacher-coaches and school heads, will parade around the town proper starting at 7:30 a.m.

There will be around 3,000 participants, including elementary pupils, secondary school students, and teacher-coaches coming from the DepEd Districts belonging to the Division of Negros Occidental, such as Binalbagan, Calatrava, Candoni, Cauayan, E. B. Magalona, Hinigaran, Hinobaan, Ilog, Isabela, La Castellana, Manapla, Moises Padilla, Murcia, Pontevedra, Pulupandan, San Enrique, Salvador Benedicto, Talisay City, Toboso, and Valladolid.

The DepEd District of E. B. Magalona is headed by Cluster 1 Supervisor Angeles Verdeprado and Cluster 2 Supervisor Dr. Romualdo Batallones.

The participants will compete in the following contests:

English- Oral Reading Interpretation (G-6), Story Retelling (G-3), Oratorical Composition and Presentation (G-10)

Filipino – Interpretatibong Pagbasa (G-6), Muling Pagkukwento (G-3), Sulat- Bigkas (G-10)

Araling Panlipunan – Population Development Quiz (JHS), Oratorical (SHS)

EPP/TLE (Elementary) – Fruits and Vegetables Carvings, Invitation Card-Making

EPP/ TLE (Secondary) – Food Processing, Electrical Installation, Technical Drafting, Dress-Making

MAPEH (Elementary) – Folk Dance, Himig Bulilit, Guhit Bulilit

MAPEH (Secondary) – Sayaw ng Kabataang Pinoy (Arena), “Direk Ko, Ganap Mo,” Sulat Tanghal, Likhawitan, Sineliksik, Pintahusay

SPED – Braille Reading & Filipino Sign Language (Elementary), Braille Reading & Filipino Sign Language (Secondary)

This year’s theme is, “Reinforcing 21st Century Learning and Fostering Creative Industries Through Talents and Skills Exhibition.”

Awarding of winners will be on June 10. Winners will represent the Division of Negros Occidental to the Regional Festival of Talents whose date and venue will be announced soon.

The Festival of Talents, per DepEd Memorandum No. 23 series of 2023, is a “clear and proactive reinforcement of the teaching and learning process and reflects the significant association between what the learners learned in school and what they performed and produced during this activity.”

“Specifically, the Festival of Talents enables learners to demonstrate their best products, services, and performances as authentic pieces of evidence of their learning across academic areas, key stages, inclusion, and special curricular programs,” it also stated.*
