Santa Catalina officials conduct benchmarking in Tomongtong Mangrove Eco-Trail

Santa Catalina town officials, led by Mayor Peve Ligan; Municipal Government office heads, and private sector representatives visited the Municipality of E. B. Magalona today [May 16] for a benchmarking activity on tourism at the Tomongtong Mangrove Eco-Trail.

Santa Catalina is a first-class municipality in the Province of Negros Oriental. It is known as the “Banana Capital” of their province.

Welcoming them to Barangay Tomongtong were Vice Mayor Eric Matulac, who represented Mayor Marvin Malacon; Sangguniang Bayan Member Gilda Parcon, Municipal Tourism Officer- designate Ma. Teresa Alvarez, MENRO-designate Jojo Vargas, Acting Municipal Budget Officer Debbie Ann Dioneo- Monte, Mayor’s Private Secretary Joel Antonio, and Punong Barangay Haydiginia Bendicion.

Vargas presented the good practices of the Municipal Government in terms of managing the community-based ecotourism site.

The visiting officials lauded the Municipal Government for these good practices, and expressed interest in replicating some of these in their municipality.*
