A company engaging in the development of offshore energy projects in the Philippines is eyeing EB Magalona town as a possible site for sources of renewable energy.

The Triconti Windkraft Group (TWG), an alliance between Filipino-Swiss -German companies, is currently developing the first round of Offshore Wind (OSW) energy projects in the country after being awarded by the Department of Energy on their Wind Energy Service Contract in 2020.

Theo Sunico, director of the Triconti Windkraft Group, sent a letter of intent Mayor Marvin Malacon signifying their plans to construct a 118-meter Wind Measurement Mast in Brgy. Gahit, EB Magalona.

In April 22 this year, Malacon and members of the Sangguniang Bayan were briefed by TWG representatives during a meeting and video call on their proposed project and planned activities for feasibility studies.

One of the most critical activities for a wind project is the conduct of a wind resource assessment of the wind in the area, Sunico said.

In their proposal to construct the wind measurement mast, Sunico assured the EB Magalona officials of complying fully with all the necessary building permits for its construction.

We believe that this OSW project will help cement Negros Occidental as one of the provinces leading the country’s energy transition towards greener and competitively priced energy, and as a means of bringing additional economic growth to your municipality of EB Magalona, he added*
