OUTBREAK

On Monday [Oct. 17], Mayor Marvin Malacon had declared a cholera outbreak in three barangays – Batea, 3 (Poblacion), and Tanza—after the town had recorded four cases of cholera.

Tanza has two cases, where one patient died, while Batea and 3 (Poblacion) have one case each.

“Rest assured that your municipal officials and concerned agencies, including the Municipal Health Office, are on top of the situation,” Malacon had said in an earlier statement.

The MHO had submitted water samples from three barangays with cholera cases to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) in Muntinlupa last Friday, and the results of the bacteriological tests are expected to be released this week, Janeo said.

The MHO is also in the process of collecting water samples from the remaining 20 barangays this week and will be submitting them to RITM as well, he added.

Meanwhile, Malacon appealed to residents to exercise more caution in their food and water consumption.

In case of LBM (loose bowel movement) or vomiting, go to the hospital or seek assistance from barangay officials or the MHO and we are ready to help you, Malacon stressed.*
