EB Magalona youth leaders join heritage forum

Ten youth leaders of E. B. Magalona are currently attending the three-day Youth Forum on Heritage, organized by the Office of 3rd District Rep. Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez, that is being held at Magikland in Silay City from May 16 to 18.

The E. B. Magalona delegation is composed of Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons Ivy Alejandrino of Poblacion III and Razel Jimenez of Barangay Damgo, Lin-ay sang Ugyonan 2023 Eynna Mei Lu, Tumandok Youth vice president Icee Alejandrino, Tumandok Youth members Karen Mae Jimenea, Bea Lamberto, and Alyna Lamberto,Teatro Laragway president Romielyn Betin, Teatro Laragway vice president Kamy Rose Penuela, and Teatro Laragway member Deon Salahog.

They are accompanied by Local Youth Development Officer Joel Antonio and Municipal Tourism Officer-designate Ma. Teresa Alvarez.

They are joining the participants from the cities of Victorias, Talisay, and Bacolod, and the municipality of Murcia, and members of the Slow Food Community.

The forum's theme is, "PAMANA: Pagbabago at Pagsulong."

Among their activities is the mapping of significant intangible cultural heritage such as social practices, rituals, and festive events.

In a message posted on his Facebook page, Benitez said, "Let us continue to work together to document, conserve, understand, and promote our cultural heritage. For in doing so, we honor not only our past, but also the future that we hope to build."

"Ang paghatag sang responsibilidad sa aton mga kabataan sa pag-amlig sang aton mga pinanubli, ginapakita naton indi lamang ang aton pagpati sa ila ikasarang, kundi ang aton man nga pagtamud sang ila may kahulugan nga papel sa pagbahin sang aton maragtas," Benitez added.

The forum, in partnership with the Filipino Heritage Festival and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, is in celebration of the National Heritage Month.*
