E. B. Magalona wins 3rd place in Christmas icon tilt

The Christmas design of E. B. Magalona was recently adjudged third best in the first giant Christmas icon decorating contest in Negros Occidental, dubbed “Christmas TAN (Trimmings and Nature),” held at the Campuestohan Highland Resort in Talisay City.

The E. B. Magalona design features a giant Christmas tree made of crab shells, with two images of the blue crabs, logos of both the municipality and the resort, and texts “Ugyon Saraviahanon” and “Home to the Blue Crabs.”

It received the cash prize of P30,000 from resort founder and owner Ricardo “Cano Gwapo” Tan.

Executive Assistant Debbie Ann Dioneo-Monte, Municipal Tourism Officer-designate Ma. Teresa Alvarez, and Saraviahanon artist Jayson Gutierrez represented the municipality at the awarding ceremonies last Dec. 22.

The competition was launched on Dec. 9 and was participated by several local government units of Negros Occidental showcasing their respective icons using indigenous materials that are endemic to their place.

San Carlos City won the top prize, while La Castellana won 2nd place.*
