he Municipal Tourism Office of E. B. Magalona joined the Provincial Tourism Summit held at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central in Bacolod City on September 16-17.

Representing the Municipality of E. B. Magalona were Councilor Gelita Parcon, chair of the Sangguniang Bayan Committee on Tourism, and Ma. Teresa Alvarez, designated municipal tourism officer.

The summit, with the theme, “Rethinking Tourism,” was spearheaded by the Association of Tourism Workers of Negros Occidental (ATWoNO), in partnership with the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, the Negros Occidental Tourism Division, and the Association of Tour Guides of Negros Occidental (ATON).

It was participated by Provincial Capitol Officials and department heads, mayors and other officials of the 13 cities and 19 towns, and tourism officers, workers, and stakeholders.

Speakers included broadcast journalist Howie Severino who talked on the “Responsible Use of Social Media in Promoting Tourism,” Professor Felipe de Leon Jr. - “Culture and Arts Appreciation,” and Tourism Planning Consultant Marybeth Mencias- “The Role of LGUs in Sustainable Destination Management.”
