4 OFWs from E. B. Magalona receive assistance from OWWA

Four distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from various barangays of E. B. Magalona have received livelihood assistance from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) under its "Balik 'Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay" Program at the Office of Mayor Marvin Malacon, Thursday [July 25].

Turning over the checks to the beneficiaries was OWWA-6 OIC-regional director Rizza Joy Moldes, who was assisted by Vice Mayor Eric Matulac, Executive Assistant Matthew Louis Malacon, OWWA-6 Negros Occidental focal person Marbie Anne Ascaño, ONOFI (OFWs Negros Occidental Federation, Inc.) president Salvacion Barrios, and E. B. Magalona OFWs Federation president Nilo Ortizo.

Of the four OFWs, two received P20,000 each, another received P10,000, and another received P5,000. (Note: One OFW was not able to join the photo opportunity.)

The assistance was facilitated by the Office of Mayor Marvin Malacon, OFWs Help Desk, headed by PESO manager-designate Maricris Chavez; and Migrants Help Desk focal person Liza Borja.

Matulac advised the beneficiaries to use the money from OWWA wisely.

EA Malacon said the Office of the Mayor is thankful to OWWA for extending assistance to Saraviahanon OFWs. He also encouraged the beneficiaries to put the money to good use.

For her part, Moldes said she appreciates the warm welcome from the Municipal Government and she is thankful to their full support to the programs and projects of OWWA, particularly for distressed, returning, and repatriated OFWs.*
