112 E. B. Magalona brgy officials attend seminar on financial management

A total of 112 officials from 23 barangays of E. B. Magalona attended a seminar titled "Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Financial Management for Fiscal Year 2025" at the Asenso Hall at the Public Plaza last July 30 and 31.
These comprised of barangay captains, barangay kagawad (sangguniang barangay members who chair the committee on finance and appropriations), barangay secretaries, barangay treasurers, and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons. Those from upland barangays were scheduled on July 30, while those from coastal barangays and poblacions were slated on July 31.
In his inspirational message, Mayor Marvin Malacon reminded barangay officials to be responsible and transparent when it comes to managing the finances of their barangays.
The mayor also encouraged them to pursue continuing education in terms of financial management so they will master this aspect of their local governance.
For his part, Executive Assistant Matthew Louis Malacon, who delivered the welcome remarks, told the participants, “I hope that our barangay officials here could learn a lot from this seminar, and you will all be empowered in applying your learnings for the development of your respective barangays and serve your constituents well."
Atty. Pierra Lamayo, head of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)- E. B. Magalona, talked about SK Planning, emphasizing on the importance of planning, monitoring, and evaluating all activities of the SK. Legal Consultant Atty. Saviya Basille Albestor discussed about Barangay Planning.
Municipal Budget Officer Debbie Ann Dioneo-Monte discussed about Barangay Budgeting, while Municipal Accountant Mardy Pagunsan talked about Barangay Financial Transactions, COA Audit Observation Memorandum, and Criteria for Annual Best Barangay in Financial Reporting Award.
Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer- designate Jojo Vargas discussed about Climate Change.
Also attending the seminar were Local Civil Registrar Mercedes Recla, Private Secretary Joel Antonio, and former municipal budget officer Jessilyn Plaza.*
