The Municipality of E. B. Magalona, spearheaded by the Municipal Health Office (MHO), marked the Family Planning Month with various services for Saraviahanon families, at the Public Plaza today [August 15].

This year’s national theme is, "Panalo Ang Pamilyang Planado: Usap Tayo Sa Family Planning.”

Executive Assistant Matthew Louis Malacon, who represented Mayor Marvin Malacon, thanked the organizers and the residents for the cooperation and full support for the health programs of the Municipality.

About 150 residents, mostly mothers and adolescents, have benefited from various services offered by the Municipal Government.

These included implant services—101 beneficiaries; DMPA (Depot medroxyprogesterone acetate)—7; HIV screening—63; oral health examination—89; risk assessment for non-communicable diseases—106; blood sugar testing—65; healthy young ones for adolescent—9; USAPAN for pregnant women—22; and pills—2.

The Office of Mayor Marvin Malacon also purchased 50 pieces of subdermal implants for use in the Family Planning program of the Municipality.

Delivering their messages were Dr. Fritzwarren Recto, one of the Doctors to the Barrios of the Department of Health assigned to E. B. Magalona, and Dr. Jose Emmanuel Bilbao, rural health physician of the Municipal Health Office of E. B. Magalona.

Also gracing the Family Planning Month celebration were Harold Marcial, regional director of Commission on Population- Region 6; Dr. Jessica Fama, medical specialist of Provincial Health Office of Negros Occidental; Dr. Ariane Javier, head of Family Health and Nutrition Cluster of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental; Nicea Jerez, coordinator for Provincial Family Planning; and Janine De Pedro, representative from Reach Health Western Visayas.*
